Bronze Certificate
The purpose of the SAA Bronze Certificate is to show that holders have a good appreciation of model aviation safety and can control their aircraft without supervision. The flying test is designed to demonstrate that the pilot can take off and land safely in any wind direction and that they can fly the plane through a series of left and right hand circuits. Within our club (and indeed most clubs) it forms the minimum standard to allow new pilots to fly solo.
This is the flight pattern you will learn to fly to obtain your Bronze Certificate and fly solo. You will also demonstrate that you are able to prepare and start your model safely. In addition to the flight pattern you will require to abort a landing approach safely and complete one "dead stick" or engine off landing. You can obtain full details of the Scottish Aeromodellers Association's flight training schedule at the SAA website.
